On May 31st, something magical happened… no, not a Harry Potter marathon. We hosted our very own Spanish Night — and it was muy espectacular.

Around 35 brave language learners (and a few who were just here for the sangria) gathered for an evening full of Spanish food, fun, and the occasional pronunciation disaster. And let’s just say… we left no tortilla unturned.

Tapas, Paella, and Other Delicious Distractions

We kicked off with a spread that could make a Spaniard cry happy tears:

• Olives (fancy ones, not from a jar!)

• Fuet and chorizo (yes, we taught people how to say chorizo properly)

• A proper tortilla española (that survived the flipping—barely)

• A giant paella that nearly required its own passport

• And of course, sangria—which mysteriously disappeared faster than expected

Dessert? A silky crema catalana, Spain’s answer to crème brûlée but with more “¡Olé!”

The Games Begin…

Once everyone was full (and mildly tipsy), we unleashed the true chaos: language games.

Game 1: Match Your Mate
Each guest received a card with a phrase—either in English or Spanish. Their mission? Find their bilingual soulmate with the translation. Imagine a room full of people shouting “Where is ‘I’m allergic to shellfish’?!” and “Who has ‘Tengo alergia al marisco’?!”. Cupid would’ve been proud.

Game 2: Spanish Bingo
Next, we shouted numbers in Spanish and watched as people forgot everything they ever learned after cinco. “Wait… is quince fifteen or fifty?!” Absolute madness. But we had prizes, so people paid attention.

Game 3: Higher or Lower
Lastly, we played a guessing game: volunteers wore secret numbers, and the crowd had to guess if the next number was higher or lower. Think The Price is Right, but with more rolled R’s and less budget.

Final Thoughts (and Final Sips of Sangria)

The night was more than just paella and party games — it was a celebration of community, culture, and the beautiful chaos of learning a new language.
